The 11 Motivation Rules That Make All The Difference

Motivation is a tricky beast. Sometimes it’s hard to find the spark that causes us to push ourselves through the day. Other times, we’re bursting from so much inspiration and drive that it’s tough to know which way to turn. But regardless of how you’re feeling on any particular day, these 12 rules will always be true of what motivates you:

Rule #1: Commit to What You Believe

When it comes to motivation, one of the most important things you can do is commit to what you believe in. This means setting goals that are important to you and working towards them even when it’s tough.

It’s also important to be honest with yourself. If you don’t truly believe in something, it will be very difficult to stay motivated. So, take some time to figure out what it is that you really want and what will make you happy.

Once you have a clear goal in mind, write it down and put it somewhere you will see it every day. This will help remind you of what you’re working towards and keep you on track.

Rule #2: Take Small Steps

Another key rule when it comes to motivation is to take small steps. Trying to accomplish too much at once is often overwhelming and can lead to giving up altogether.

Instead of setting huge goals that seem impossible, break them down into smaller, more manageable pieces. Then, focus on taking one small step at a time until you reach your goal.

Remember, even the smallest progress is still progress! And each step will get you closer to where you want

Rule #3: Make a Positive Impact

You know the feeling. You want to make a change in your life, whether it’s getting in shape, eating better, or finally tackling that project you’ve been putting off. But somehow, you just can’t seem to get started.

The problem might be that you’re not focusing on the right thing. When it comes to motivation, making a positive impact is one of the most powerful things you can do.

Think about it this way: if you’re trying to get in shape, what’s more motivating? The promise of looking good in a bathing suit? Or the knowledge that you’re going to be healthier and have more energy?

It’s the same with any other goal. If you focus on the positive impact your goal will have on your life, it will be much easier to get motivated and stay motivated.

So next time you’re struggling to get started, think about the positive impact your goal will have and let that be your motivation!

Rule #4: Think of the End Goal

When it comes to staying motivated, it is important to keep the end goal in mind. This means that you need to have a clear idea of what you want to achieve.

If your goal is to lose weight, for example, you need to think about how much weight you want to lose and by when. This will help you stay focused on your goal and make sure that you are taking the necessary steps to achieve it.

It is also important to remember that your goals can change over time. As you achieve one goal, you may set a new one. This is perfectly normal! Just make sure that your goals are realistic and achievable.

If you are struggling to stay motivated, try speaking to a friend or family member about your goals. They may be able to offer some helpful advice or support.

Rule #5: Focus On What’s Working

When you’re trying to make a change in your life, it’s easy to get caught up in what’s not working. You might focus on all the times you’ve failed in the past, or on all the things you still need to improve.

But if you want to be successful, it’s important to focus on what is working. For every time you slip up, there are probably many more times when you’re doing well.

And even if you’re not seeing results yet, if you’re sticking with your plan and taking consistent action, that’s something to be proud of!

So instead of beating yourself up for all the ways you’re falling short, celebrate all the progress you’re making. Every step in the right direction is bringing you closer to your goal.

Rule #6: Consider Wishes and Concerns

When it comes to goal setting and motivation, it’s important to consider both your wishes and your concerns. What do you want to achieve? And what might get in the way?

For example, let’s say you want to lose weight. A wish might be to look better in your clothes or to have more energy. A concern might be that you’ll have to give up your favorite foods or that you won’t be able to stick with an exercise program.

It’s important to be aware of both your wishes and concerns because they can help you set realistic goals and identify potential obstacles. Once you know what you’re up against, you can develop a plan to overcome any challenges.

If you’re struggling to get motivated, ask yourself what your wishes and concerns are. Once you know what they are, you can start taking steps to achieve your goals.

Rule #7: Be Motivated by Happiness

If you’re trying to be motivated by success or money, you’re doing it wrong. The real key to motivation is happiness.

When you’re happy, your brain is more likely to release dopamine, which is a chemical that helps you feel pleasure and satisfaction. This means that you’re more likely to feel motivated when you’re happy.

There are a few things that you can do to increase your happiness levels. First, try to surround yourself with positive people. Second, make sure that you’re doing things that make you happy. And third, take care of your mental and physical health.

If you can focus on being happy, you’ll find that the motivation will follow.

Rule#8: Work Hard, Play Fair

‘Work hard, play fair’ is one of the most important motivational rules that you need to follow if you want to be successful. This rule applies to every aspect of your life, including your career, relationships, and even your health.

If you want to be successful in your career, you need to work hard and put in the hours. You also need to be honest and ethical in your dealings with others. This means playing by the rules and not taking shortcuts.

The same applies to your personal relationships. If you want a happy and healthy relationship, you need to work hard at it. This means being supportive, communication, and being respectful of your partner’s needs.

Finally, this rule also applies to your health. If you want to be healthy and stay in shape, you need to eat right, exercise regularly, and get enough sleep. You also need to avoid risky behaviors like smoking and drinking.

So remember, if you want to be successful in all areas of your life, make sure you work hard and play fair!

Rule#9: Take Ownership, Own Your Mistakes

We all make mistakes from time to time. It’s part of being human. What separates the successful from the unsuccessful is how they deal with their mistakes.

The successful take ownership of their mistakes. They don’t try to blame others or make excuses. They know that their mistakes are their responsibility and they accept them.

Owning your mistakes shows that you are willing to learn from them. It shows that you are willing to take responsibility for your actions and that you are mature enough to handle the consequences.

When you make a mistake, own it. Don’t try to hide it or deny it. Be honest with yourself and with others. Admit your mistake and then move on. Learn from it and use it as motivation to do better next time.

Rule#10: Be Willing

When it comes to motivation, being willing is half the battle. You have to be willing to put in the work and make the necessary sacrifices in order to see results.

If you’re not willing to do what it takes, then you’re never going to reach your goals. It’s as simple as that.

So if you’re not feeling motivated, ask yourself if you’re truly willing to do what it takes to succeed. If the answer is no, then you need to reassess your goals. But if the answer is yes, then it’s time to get to work!

Rule#11: Use Visualisation

This is an important step in finding motivation and achieving your goals. If you’re not familiar with visualization, it’s a technique that involves imagining yourself accomplishing your goal, step by step. It’s hard to feel motivated if you don’t have a clear picture of what you want out of life. If you’re not sure where you’re going, then how can you expect to get there?Visualization will help you turn your goals into reality because your mind is like a magnet. It attracts things that are similar to it (in this case, thoughts).By visualizing yourself reaching your goals on a regular basis, your mind will begin to attract opportunities and experiences that will help you to achieve them. You’ll experience the Law of Attraction at work in your own life, which is pretty cool.I use this technique regularly, so I can say that it’s helped me tremendously. When you create a vision board , your mind begins to focus on that goal, sending out a constant stream of mental requests for opportunities and situations to arise that will help you bridge the gap between where you are now and where you want to be.Here’s an example:My current vision board includes pictures from my trip to Italy last year. Every time I’m feeling down or unmotivated about something, looking at my vision board reminds me of what I have already accomplished, which helps motivate me to continue working.

Takeaway

The difference between successful people and everyone else is that successful people have mastered the art of motivation. With the right motivation, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. These simple rules will help you stay motivated so that you can reach your goals and live a happier, more fulfilling life.
